Lighthouse of the Valley

Lighthouse of the Valley wanted its waiting room in Stockton to greet visitors with its name and logo instead of a blank wall. The room is a small seating area with two patterned armchairs against a textured beige wall. The same package also covered the organization's parking signs outside.

The lobby sign was fabricated from 1/2-inch-thick acrylic and mounted off the wall so each piece casts a soft shadow. The logo is built in layers: a gold lighthouse with a deep red base, a red arc sweeping over the top and a gold swoosh underneath. We color matched every piece to the organization's logo so the reds and golds came out in the right shades. Beside it, LIGHTHOUSE OF THE VALLEY is set in black serif small caps on two lines, centered above the chairs. Outside, we revamped the existing aluminum parking signs by stripping the old graphics from the panels and applying all new ones.

Dimensional acrylic is a good fit for a waiting room: it brings in the brand's colors, reads from across the room, and costs far less than repainting or remodeling. Reusing sound aluminum parking panels with fresh graphics follows the same thinking outside.
